At this point, it’s really hard to make out where Tanguy Ndombélé stands at Galatasaray, with his performances far from stellar, as he yo-yos his way in and out of the Süper Lig side’s starting XI.
Much has been made about the midfielder’s apparent fitness levels, but one thing appears to be becoming clearer and clearer, which is unless there is a massive change, he will be heading back to Spurs at the end of the season.
What happens from there remains to be seen, but he will likely not convince Ange Postecoglou that he deserves a spot in his Tottenham squad, and Foot Mercato revealed a bit about the 27-year-old’s intentions in an article on Monday.
They first look at his loan at Galatasaray, which certainly isn’t the triumphant success everyone was hoping for, following the same pattern as previous temporary spells at Lyon and Napoli.
The French website then report that Ndombélé is now ‘considering a return to France’, where he enjoyed the most successful part of his footballing time to date, seemingly in an attempt to stop the downhill trajectory that his career has taken since his move to England.
For that to happen, however, he would likely need to renounce a large chunk of his Tottenham wages, meaning it will be a choice between finances and his desire to play football.
Ndombélé is currently contracted to Spurs until 2025, making this upcoming summer the ideal time for him to be sold and the Premier League side to recoup at least a small portion of their original €62m expenditure back in 2019.
