Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is a ‘nice suggestion’ for Fiorentina but there is not a negotiation going on at this moment in time.
That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who insists that Fiorentina need to unlock money in their budget before they can move for the Argentine.
Lo Celso is expected to leave Tottenham this summer, having failed to impress Antonio Conte since his arrival last year.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal, where he established himself as a key player in their run to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The Spanish club are keen on a permanent reunion but they don’t have the funds to do that deal, so the midfielder has been linked with moves elsewhere.
Fiorentina have been brought into the picture over the last week or so and a report earlier today stated they were working on a deal for the player, who would be a ‘dream signing’.
Pedulla has said that is the case but insists there are no ongoing negotiations with Tottenham for now.
“At the moment it is a nice suggestion, but it is not a negotiation,” he told his Twitch channel, relayed by Labaro Viola.
“Fiorentina must unravel the Milenkovic situation, first, and then Dragowski. I do not exclude that the suggestion could turn into something else.
“Tottenham has to sell after buying and Lo Celso is not non-transferable. He has incredible numbers, and important qualities but is often erratic. He could be an opportunity.
“He is on the market: he is redundant. These are situations from mid-August onwards, not necessarily from the end of July.
“We have to follow him, but with some consistency: he must not become a catchphrase.
“We have to wait. Why didn’t Villarreal buy him back? Because they are not a club that values the products of others. It is a rich club, but it does not give away. They may not have found the right balance on salary and price of the card with Tottenham.”
