Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilón is currently undergoing a medical at Atlético Madrid ahead of a loan move to the Spanish club.
That’s according to journalist Marcos Benito, who says the defender is at the club doing the required tests before completing a move.
Reguilón has been linked with Atlético over the last week as a replacement for Renan Lodi, who has moved to Nottingham Forest to get more game time ahead of the World Cup.
That move was completed over the weekend, opening up space for Reguilón to move to the Wanda Metropolitano.
A report from AS yesterday on Lodi explained that while he was making the trip from Spain to England, Reguilón was going in the other direction.
His move from Tottenham was dependent on Forest’s move for Lodi and the newspaper says that after the Brazilian’s move was completed, Reguilón would ‘undergo an examination’ in the next few hours so he could be at Diego Simeone’s ‘disposal as soon as possible.’
Marcos Benito now provides the next point in the story, stating that the Tottenham man is currently undergoing the medical with his new club.
He provides no details on the nature of the deal, but we’ll assume it’s a loan for now as previous reports said it would be and Lodi has not left permanently as yet.
Either way, the defender appears to be close to returning to Madrid, albeit this time playing for the other side in the city.
