As Tottenham Hotspur’s chase for a new striker continues, interesting claims come from the Italian media on Tuesday.
As transcribed by Sos Fanta, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has been at Sky Sport’s studios to talk about Spurs’ efforts to land Andrea Belotti from Torino.
He’s claimed that José Mourinho’s side first made an offer for a loan with an option to buy, and that was turned down by the Serie A side.
Now Tottenham made a second bid, and this time, the option to buy would be automatically triggered in case ‘certain conditions’ are met.
Even though it sounds like Spurs are getting closer to getting the striker, it’s claimed that Torino are still not convinced of the move, as they want the permanent sale to be guaranteed, and not to depend on clauses.
A couple of days ago, Italian website Calcio Mercato said Belotti was the second option in Tottenham’s wish list. They first had Arkadiusz Milik, then the Torino star, and Willian José from Real Sociedad coming next.
Newspaper Diário Vasco covers this story today, crediting the journalist, instead of the website. They highlight the fact that Willian José remains an option for Tottenham after so long, but claim that there’s been nothing between Spurs and Real Sociedad for now.
So perhaps Spurs are still having a shot at their second option.
