Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Sporting midfielder Manuel Ugarte is today revealed by Portuguese newspaper Record.
The outlet features a story about the ‘diamonds’ in the Lions’ squad, as a couple of players have their market values going up ‘like an arrow’, and the 21-year-old is one of them.
After speaking of Ugarte’s potential, Record writes that Tottenham were one of the clubs who recently made contact for his signing.
The newspaper found out that Spurs boss Antonio Conte has been in touch with Rodrigo Bentancur, who’s a teammate of the Sporting player at the Uruguayan national team, to talk about the youngster’s potential.
Leicester City are also said to be a club keen on Ugarte, although there are not many details on the Foxes’ interest, with Record only pointing out they’ve made an approach for him as well. Other sides such as Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are said to have him ‘referenced’ as well.
For now, there’s no information on how much Tottenham would like to pay for the midfielder, who’s valued by Transfermarkt at €15m.
