Tottenham’s alleged interest in Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombélé is nothing new, having been peddled by the French media for some time now.

What we haven’t seen until now is claim of an offer being put in by any of the interested parties, which supposedly include Manchester United.

The French midfielder has emerged as one of the most exciting midfield prospects in Ligue 1 over the past nine months, and while Lyon only had him on loan last season from Amiens, his stay has now been made permanent.

Earlier on Thursday, Manu Lonjon, a journalist for Yahoo! Sport, reported that a €40m+ bid had been made for Ndombélé, assuming it was most likely from an English side.

Paris United then jumped on that information, and decided to clarify the information, claiming the only offer Lyon had refused for the 21-year-old was a €45m one from Tottenham dating from a few weeks ago.

That was deemed ‘insufficient’ by the Ligue 1 side, who won’t be that keen to see two of their stars leave this summer should Nabil Fekir find another landing spot.

This wouldn’t be the first time Tottenham made a huge bid for a player with just one year of top flight experience behind him, spending £36m on Davinson Sanchez last summer.

Our only worry here is that it seems like a very large opening offer, which isn’t Daniel Levy’s usual modus operandi.

We’ll wait for someone else to corroborate this before fully believing it, especially since this isn’t exactly Paris Saint-Germain centric news (other than the fact the Ligue 1 champions have been linked with the midfielder), which is what Paris United specialise in.
