In a story that seemed to stay under the radar until today, Tottenham were interested in Sturm Graz striker Emanuel Emegha.
We know this because L’Equipe are the ones revealing it, as they have an article on the 20-year-old agreeing to sign for Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
The French club have new funds following their acquisition from BlueCo, and it appears they used it to get ahead of both Tottenham and AC Milan, who were both after the forward.
Strasbourg are said to be paying €12m for the 20-year-old, who scored 10 goals in 36 games for the Austrian side last season.
It’s said they have ‘beaten the competition’ of Tottenham and the Serie A club for the Netherlands U20 international, who stands at 1m95 tall, and has been followed by the Ligue 1 team for the past few months.
Whether Spurs were intending to make a move at some stage in the current window isn’t said, but if they were, they missed their chance, as this deal seems all but wrapped up, such is the confidence of L’Equipe in their headline and article.
