Jose Mourinho wanted to sign defender Kim Min-jae for Tottenham, long before he established himself as a star for Napoli.
Kim has established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe this season with a series of impressive performances for Napoli since arriving in the summer.
He was signed as a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly after his move to Chelsea but quickly replaced the Napoli favourite in the heart of their defence.
He has been earning rave reviews for his displays, playing a key role in Napoli’s domination of Serie A and their run to the Champions League knockout stages.
He’s already been linked with a move to the Premier League and Tottenham are one of them, with a report at the end of November stating that they are ready to pay his €50m release clause early to get him ahead of the competition.
It seems they could have had him years ago, though, with journalist Ugo Trani claiming that he wanted to sign the Korean during his time in charge.
“Putting Roma in the hands of Mourinho would be a turning point,” Forza Roma report him saying.
“Kvaratskhelia, someone followed him, even Kim that Mourinho had reported when he was at Tottenham. Something is also missing in terms of scouting in Rome.
“My concern for Dybala is that if Juventus take another sting in the salary case, he too will be disqualified. The trial will take place at the end of March.”
