Tottenham might have been handed their chance to hire manager Oliver Glasner as Antonio Conte’s replacement, with him set to depart Eintracht Frankfurt.
Hessenschau and Kicker cover the 48-year-old’s future today, with the latter stating that he has held ‘crisis talks’ with the German club about his situation at the club.
The two newspapers report that he is set to depart after the DFB Cup final in Berlin on June 3rd, after it was decided the two parties need to part ways following a meeting with sports director Markus Krösche late last night.
HR explain that Glasner’s recent behaviour has upset those above him at the club, with board spokesman Axel Hellmann publicly criticising him after the manager’s angry speech to the media following defeat to TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday.
That was the latest incident on a growing list in recent weeks and Kicker say it led to a ‘crisis meeting’ and the decision for him to leave in the summer.
And that should be of interest to Tottenham, who have already been linked with Glasner amid their ongoing search for Antonio Conte’s long-term replacement.
Indeed, a report towards the end of March indicated that Tottenham and Daniel Levy had already been in touch with the Austrian manager about a potential move to London.
He’s now set to be available on a free at the end of the season, a fact that will surely put him back on Levy’s radar and perhaps make him a contender once again.
