On Wednesday morning AS reported Chelsea are close to securing Fernando Lllorente from Swansea City.
Antonio Conte tried to sign the Spaniard during the January transfer window, something Llorente has talked about himself, but Swansea were unwilling to sell such a major source of goals for them.
It worked out for the Welsh club and perhaps the only surprise is that Llorente isn’t a Chelsea player already. Now AS throw in another potential surprise… Tottenham.
The Spanish newspaper say Chelsea are close to a deal worth €10-15m, and Tottenham’s offer would obviously be something more than that.
Should Tottenham manage to snatch Llorente it would in some way be revenge for when Chelsea took Willian from Spurs’ clutches, and the situation would undoubtedly leave Conte furious.
