Aside from the capture of Tanguy Ndombele, it’s largely been a slow and somewhat frustrating summer for Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino wanted plenty of signings after defeat in the Champions League final, but so far only one has arrived, and he’s made his displeasure well known.

They’re set to have a busy week before deadline day on Thursday and one player they may end up looking at is Matthias Ginter, if Bild are to be believed.

The newspaper reports that Tottenham are among several top European sides that are ‘known’ to have an interest in the defender.

They don’t offer whether any of those sides, Tottenham included, are looking to make a move this summer or whether there’s been any sort of contact in that department, just that the interest is there.

Borussia Mönchengladbach seem more than aware of the interest and are even making moves to try and convince him to stay, such as recently giving him the captain’s armband in a draw with Chelsea and moving him up the ‘hierarchy’ in that regard.

Likewise, manager Marco Rose has not held back in praising the 25-year-old in public.

With no talk of an official bid, just interest, though, this one can be filed under potential more than anything. Perhaps if Toby Alderweireld leaves before Thursday, that Tottenham interest may become something a little firmer.
