A few days ago, Matteo Kovacic gave an interview to Marca in which he said he wants to leave the club. The Croatian is frustrated at not being a prominent player in the Madrid side and feels it’s harming his progression and chances with the national team.
It may be no coincidence that these comments have come during the World Cup, with Kovacic getting a total of 20 minutes over Croatia’s two games so far. In that limited time, he did manage to get an assist against Argentina.
When publishing the interview, Marca linked Arsenal and ‘Manchester’, but El Confidencial have it differently.
El Confidencial have been pretty good on Real Madrid exits over the years and are usually worth listening to. In two separate articles today, they’ve credited Tottenham Hotspur with interest.
In another article on a potential swoop for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Nabil Fekir or Juan Fernando Quintero as a possible replacement, it’s stated: ‘In England he also fits into the plans of Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham.’
Despite Real Madrid’s reluctance to sell the 24 year old, there’s a concern about keeping him against his will, and if a good offer arrives, El Confidencial say it will be studied.
There’s a suggestion the level could be €50m.
