Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Santos youngster JP Chermont, according to claims in the Brazilian media
Journalist Rogério Siqueira reports on Baixada Esporte that Spurs have been ‘monitoring’ the fullback, who’s 18-years-old and has just started featuring for the first team.
With not many details on the chase, the report only claims that Tottenham are ‘keeping an eye’ on the player, and there’s no information on a bid for now.
Chermont’s contract with Santos runs until 2025, and there are reportedly negotiations for a contract extension and a new release clause taking place.
It’s worth pointing out that Tottenham’s interest in the player is still to be reported by a major outlet in Brazil, so we’ll keep an eye on this story.
Even though Chermont obviously belongs to a big club, they’ve been playing in the second division this year, so it’d be interesting, to say the least, to see Spurs signing someone from there.
The youngster has been showing some good potential, though, and deserved to earn his starting place in the first team, despite starting the year still in their academy.
