The Copa Libertadores’ group stage kicks off tonight which means that once again, many South American young talents will be watched by rich European sides who can sign them with little effort.

Calcio Mercato features a piece about it today, and when listing some of the players to keep an eye on, there’s Palmeiras starlet Gabriel Menino.

The 20-year-old, who had an important role in their title just a few months ago, is said to be drawing interest from several European sides, including Tottenham Hotspur.

The report says Spurs have ‘set their sights on him’, just like other clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Juventus.

Gabriel Menino has been getting linked with European sides for a while now, especially because he’s been called up for the national team this year.

Still, this is the first time Tottenham are named in stories about the midfielder.

It’s recently been claimed by the Spanish press that despite the player’s €60m release clause, he could actually be signed for €20m.

With many Copa Libertadores games coming up in the next few weeks, there’s now the perfect opportunity for Tottenham to keep an eye on him.
