Real Madrid signed Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan in 2015 and the midfielder saw his role with the La Liga giants being limited in the last three seasons.
The Croatian international was unhappy with his bit part role, which is why he asked the Spanish capital club to sanction his transfer in the summer and was allowed to join Chelsea on a season-long loan deal without an option to buy.
AS now claims Los Blancos are aware the 24-year-old does not want to return to Santiago Bernabeu, which is why they have decided to listen to offers for him. It’s claimed the Blues and Tottenham Hotspur are tussling for him.
The relationship between Kovacic and his parent club has now deteriorated and Madrid are disappointed with the attitude he showed in the summer.
If the AS’ report is to be believed, it’s clear that Kovacic wants to leave Real and they are open to the sanctioning his sale next summer.
AS say Chelsea have an advantage, partly because he’s already there.
