One of the big worries at AS Roma right now isn’t whether or not Granit Xhaka will sign, but what Lorenzo Pellegrini plans on doing going forward.

The midfielder, who is a childhood fan of the club, is in the final year of his contract, but a renewal has yet to be signed, which has opened the door for interested clubs, such as Tottenham.

As things stand, his desire is to ‘continue’ with the Serie A club, but despite the ‘good intentions’, there has ‘not yet been a decisive meeting to shake hands and extend the marriage’.

There is also the worry of the current €30m release clause in his contract, and whole his ‘first choice remains Roma’, Calciomercato, who run the story, explain he must ‘beware of courtships’.

That’s where Tottenham come in, with their interest ‘confirmed’, as Fabio Paratici continues his Italian window shopping, having already made a move for Pierluigi Gollini, all the while ogling Dusan Vlahovic and Lorenzo Pelelgrini.

It’s stated ‘the English club is fast approaching’, but ‘doesn’t seem willing to pay the €30m release clause which will expire in 10 days’.

Why that is isn’t stated, but if there ever was a time to try and convince Pellegrini to move to Spurs, now would be it, when his price is set and rather easy to meet.
