Italian website Roma Giallorossa today features big claims about Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Roger Ibanez.
In an exclusive, the outlet writes that Spurs have ‘intensified’ their contacts in the ‘last few hours’, and it’s even possible that an official offer will arrive ‘within a few days’.
Roma are said to be demanding between €30m and €35m to let Ibanez go, but according to the report, an offer for Tottenham for between €25m and €30m could be enough to sign him.
It’s pointed out that both Spurs and West Ham United have been ‘monitoring’ the centre-back, but it’s really the North London side who are ‘above all’ in this battle.
Another advantage Tottenham may have is that Roma are in need of money, and must make around €30m with sales before the end of the month.
Ibanez was alongside Tammy Abraham as the main hopes the club have to cash in this month, but after the Englishman’s serious injury, Spurs’ attempt to land the Brazilian should be crucial for the Giallorossi.
Tottenham’s new manager Ange Postecoglou is said to be an ‘admirer’ of Ibanez, so it makes sense that the club are making an early move for him.
