Tottenham have initiated contact ‘behind the scenes’ to sign Vanderson from AS Monaco, as they eye up a replacement for Emerson Royal.

That’s according to UOL and journalist Bruno Andrade, who both say Tottenham are keen on the defender as part of their summer rebuild.

UOL report that with Emerson Royal enjoying suitors in Italy, namely AC Milan, and looking likely to leave this summer, Tottenham are already making plans to replace him.

They’ve identified Vanderson as the priority target to reinforce their right-hand side and have been in contact behind the scenes to understand how to proceed in a possible negotiation. They are yet to make an official offer to the Ligue 1 side.

The belief is that they can get a deal done, but it will depend on the departure of Emerson Royal, who seems keen on a move to Italy and has suitors there.

Bruno Andrade backs this up, stating Tottenham want Vanderson as the replacement and have already started first contacts with Monaco for the former Grêmio full-back.

There’s no mention of a transfer fee or valuation at this time but Vanderson has a contract until 2028 with Monaco so there is no need for them to sell and they can demand what they like in negotiations.
