Tottenham Hotspur have joined the chase to sign RCD Mallorca’s Kang-in Lee in the next window, according to a report from Spain.
Operating mainly on the wings and also in other attacking positions, he’s managed five goals and five assists from 33 games this season. His form and versatility have caught the attention of a few clubs, including Spurs.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who mention Tottenham interest in a report that explains Atlético Madrid’s desire to sign the 22-year-old.
Los Rojiblancos sealed a 3-1 win over Mallorca in their last outing and they looked at the South Korea international when he came off the bench in the second half. The report says he left a ‘pleasant impression’ on the Madrid club.
Atlético also held talks with Mallorca about the possibility of carrying out an operation for the forward, who has been on their agenda since the start of this year. They believe his arrival could have a impact commercially as well as on the pitch.
Diego Simeone’s side must carry out a few exit operations before making an approach for Lee. If not, it would be complicated to sign the Mallorca star.
Lee has a contract until 2025 and has a €30m release clause. Mallorca could let him go for a lower price and would also accept the inclusion of players as part of the deal.
The Spanish club’s ‘main rival’ comes from the Premier League, where ‘Tottenham are in the lead’ to sign the versatile attacker.
Online, Mundo Deportivo add Spurs are ‘very interested’ to acquire Lee’s services for next season.
Unlike Atlético, Tottenham wouldn’t have to carry out a few sales to make an approach for Lee.
With the Premier League side keen to sign him, this gives Spurs an advantage over Atlético in the transfer race.
