Tottenham are ‘in a hurry’ to wrap up a deal for Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori and avoid getting involved in an auction for him this summer.
That’s according to Il Pallano Gonfiato, who say they are ‘very interested’ in the defender and keen to get a deal over the line.
They explain that Tottenham have been following Calafiori for some time and are now ‘in a hurry to close’ a deal for the 21-year-old, with the first signs coming from England that they’re ready to do a deal.
Tottenham therefore want to move and make use of their recent transfer business in Italy, potentially repeating the deal they did with Genoa for Radu Dragusin with Genoa for Calafiori.
They are studying the idea of making on offer worth €25m plus bonuses, which should be enough to convince the rossoblù to let the defender depart.
Tottenham ‘want to have priority’ in any transfer negotiations and avoid any ‘crazy auctions’ for the player, something Bologna may use to their advantage to ramp the price up to €30m.
That’s a figure which would ‘keep everyone happy and contented’, but it’s not yet known if Tottenham would be willing to go that high initially.
They’re keen, though, and their determination to avoid a tussle with any other suitors could potentially see them simply stump up the cash.
