According to claims in the Italian media Tottenham Hotspur are showing an interest in Fiorentina midfielder Matias Vecino ahead of the summer window.

TMW have reported Tottenham could be looking at Vecino to replace Eric Dier if the England international joins Manchester United this summer. Dier has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks as Jose Mourinho continues to rebuild his squad.

It’s been claimed a player on Tottenham’s radar is Vecino after the 25-year-old impressed for Fiorentina last season. The North London side have made contact with the Uruguay international’s agent over a potential transfer, according to TMW.

Vecino joined Fiorentina in 2013 and after loan spells with Cagliari and Empoli the midfielder has now established himself with the Viola. His performances for Fiorentina have brought him international recognition and the midfielder has now played 13 times for his country since making his debut last year.

Given Vecino is a Uruguay regular, Tottenham shouldn’t have work permit problems if he really is a Mauricio Pochettino target.
