Mauricio Pochettino wants to take Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli to Real Madrid should he replace Zinedine Zidane at the club.
That’s according to journalist Luigi Guelpa, who reveals the interesting transfer demands from the Argentine boss today.
Pochettino has been out of work since leaving Tottenham last year but has not been forgotten about, with links to pretty much every big job around Europe.
The latest job he has been linked with is the Real Madrid one, with it believed the pressure is mounting on Zidane after a poor start in La Liga and several disappointing displays in the Champions League.
It’s not the first time he’s been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, having regularly been named as one of the club’s top targets for much of his time at Tottenham.
Should he move there, he would be tasked with overhauling the squad, and he apparently has two of his former stars in mind on that front.
“Dybala certainly remains (at Juventus) in January,” Guelpa told Calciomercato.it.
“In June I don’t know. Pochettino for Real Madrid gave the names of Kane and Alli, and the third is his.
“At the moment, Morata-Ronaldo is the couple that works best. But everyone is working in breathlessly right now with such close races. But Dybala will surely come in handy.”
The claim is certainly a bold one from Guelpa and one we’ll be taking with a huge pinch of salt at this moment in time.
For a start, while we can see him knowing something about Dybala, there is no reason for him to know about Pochettino’s plans or potential interest in the Tottenham pair.
At the same time, quite how Real Madrid would be able to afford all three of those players is anyone’s guess given their current financial issues while Tottenham would never consider selling Kane anyway, not unless it was for an offer they really couldn’t refuse.
It means even if this rumour were true, which we suspect it isn’t, it’s very, very unlikely to happen unless there is a major change in several situations.
