Among Mauricio Pochettino’s many frustrations this summer, Tottenham’s failure to complete the signing of Giovani Lo Celso is likely to be up there.

The Spurs boss has made it clear that he wants the midfielder, but they’ve so far failed to seal a deal, with Daniel Levy refusing to meet Betis’ asking price.

Betis have resisted their bids throughout the summer as they’re determined to get as much money as possible and it seems Spurs were hoping to force the deal through via another route.

Estadio Deportivo report that they have had an agreement with Lo Celso in place for weeks and were hoping that he would try to force his exit from the La Liga side.

However, he is unwilling to do that as he doesn’t want to ruin his relationship with the club as they allowed him to relaunch his career. Instead, he’s waiting in the background for a deal to be done.

Betis are hoping that Tottenham will be pressed into a deal with the transfer deadline looming on Thursday and it seems they can rest safe in the knowledge that Lo Celso won’t force their hand in the meantime.
