Tottenham are ‘at the head’ of the list of suitors for Sporting Club de Portugal manager Ruben Amorim as they plan for life after Antonio Conte.
That’s according to Correio da Manhã Weekend, who say they could face big competition from Paris Saint Germain for his signature.
The newspaper explains that English clubs are ‘targeting’ the Sporting coach, who has been impressing with the Portuguese side since taking charge in March 2020.
Tottenham are one of those who have taken notice of him and the way his side plays and are now ‘at the head’ of the list of suitors as Conte is now almost certainly leaving at the end of the season.
They, though, face competition from PSG as the French giants look set to replace Christophe Galtier following their elimination from the Champions League.
Amorim has been put back on their ‘list of preferences’ as a result and the fact that the Sporting coach is the brother-in-law of former PSG sporting director Antero Henrique is not something that can be ignored. In fact, it could ‘speed up’ a possible transfer.
Any interest will come at a price as Amorim has a €20m release clause in his current contract if he goes abroad. That rises to €30m if he goes to Benfica or Porto.
Tottenham, then, will have to pay the former if they want him as their new manager, something which it seems they are not too perturbed by at this point.
