Tottenham Hotspur could be handed a major summer opening as Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu edges closer to a long‑desired Premier League move.
The 23‑year‑old has made no secret of his ambition, openly admitting he is ‘in love’ with the idea of moving to England.
According to BILD, Atubolu is seriously considering leaving Freiburg at the end of the season. Sources close to the club are suggesting he is ready to take the next major step in his career.
Tottenham’s summer goalkeeper opportunity emerges
With his contract running until 2027 and his market value already rising beyond €20m, this summer may represent Freiburg’s best chance to cash in.
Atubolu’s development has been rapid. He has established himself as Freiburg’s No.1, earned his first Germany call‑up under Julian Nagelsmann in October, and is now viewed as a realistic contender for the 2026 World Cup.
A move to the Premier League has long been his ambition. That’s something Atubolu openly admitted last summer.
“I’ve been a huge Premier League fan since I was a child. It’s the best league in the world. I watched a lot of Chelsea games growing up,” he said.
Spurs well placed in transfer race

That long-standing admiration has not gone unnoticed. Tottenham and West Ham have tracked him across recent windows. AC Milan, Inter and Napoli have also registered their interest.
A report at the end of February explained that Tottenham had very much turned their attention to him.
| Bundesliga 2025/26 | |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 26 |
| Started | 26 |
| Minutes per game | 90 |
| Total minutes played | 2340 |
| Team of the week | 3 |
The fact that Atubolu has England as his preferred destination gives them an advantage over the competition.
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Atubolu changed agents in January, joining Epic Sports. They are the agency which engineered Kevin Schade’s €25m from Freiburg to Brentford.
Thus, the opportunity for Tottenham is obvious. A young, Bundesliga-proven, Germany international who actively wants a Premier League move.
One thing is clear: the summer window is set to heat up for Freiburg and their goalkeeper and Tottenham appear perfectly positioned to take advantage.
