As Tottenham Hotspur continue being linked to Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram, we get to see interesting updates today coming from the French media.
Journalist Ignazio Genuardi writes that even though the 25-year-old ‘could wait until the summer’ to move to one of the European sides who want him, a ‘surprise can’t be ruled out’ this winter.
And it’s exactly Tottenham who are said to be a suitor to sign Thuram in the middle of the season, as Spurs ‘could give it a try’ in the January transfer window.
There’s just no information on how much the London side would be paying for the transfer, or the amount requested by Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Earlier this week, Bild put the price at €10m.
Thuram already has 13 goals and four assists for the Bundesliga side this season, and has even been managing to get a few minutes at the World Cup, being used by France at the end of their games against Australia and Denmark.
Tottenham’s links with the player have been around since June, with the latest stories claiming Spurs are ‘working on an operation’ to bring him to the club while they battle with Premier League rivals for the signing.
