Spanish sides Mallorca are the latest side to join the developing race for Tottenham forward Bryan Gil in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Diario de Cadiz, citing journalist Thierry Enric, who says negotiations with Tottenham are already underway to make a loan deal happen.
Gil has again found himself out of the picture at Tottenham this season after returning from a successful loan spell at Valencia in the summer.
The youngster is yet to feature in a single minute of Premier League football this season and has only managed four brief appearances in the Champions League and one in the EFL Cup.
That has led to reports he could be on his way out again in January and Diario de Cadiz add a new name to the list of possible destinations today.
They say that a move away from Tottenham ‘could not be more logical’ given his lack of prominence in the team and Mallorca are one of the sides that ‘emerges with an option’ to sign him.
They cover Enric reporting that the Spanish are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign the forward from Tottenham and could be a more interesting option than Cadiz as they in a comfortable position in 11th in the table with eight more points than their rivals.
Such a move would also be a blow to Cadiz and the rest of the teams around them that they are not messing around in the second half of the season.
The report may need to be taken with a pinch of salt for the time being, though. Gil is being linked with pretty much everyone in Spain given his situation at Tottenham and his loan spell at Valencia last season.
Enric appears to be just throwing mud at the wall in an attempt to see what sticks, rather than offering anything concrete.
Still, Mallorca could be a name to keep an eye on as the race for the Tottenham man starts to pick up the closer, we get to January.
