While Tottenham’s transfer plans were a bit on hold as Daniel Levy tried to find the right manager to replace Antonio Conte in the long-term, things have accelerated a bit since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou.
The former Celtic manager appears to know what he wants, and that includes a new centre-back, with potentially some more firepower coming in to back up Harry Kane, if he were to stay.
One of the players seemingly being targeted by the Tottenham boss, at least according to Corriere dello Sport, is Paulo Dybala, for a very good reason.
If you weren’t aware, the Argentine has a release clause in his AS Roma contract for foreign clubs worth €12m, which is a worry for the Serie A side, obviously.
They do have Dybala’s desire to stay for now, and he is ‘waiting for a call from Pinto’ to discuss a potential new contract and wages in order to settle matters, and ‘eliminate the famous release clause’ once and for all.
The player himself is currently on holiday, and will not be returning until July 10th, but everyone is still wary from the interest from the Premier League.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham are all following him ‘with great attention’, especially since the €12m ‘inevitably appeals’ to many teams around the globe.
It would take a lot for Spurs to convince him, it seems, especially since they don’t have any European football to offer, but as long as that clauses there, the danger will be too.
