Tottenham Hotspur have rekindled their interest in AS Roma’s Nicolò Zaniolo after having failing to sign him last summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio
Roma rejected approaches for the 23-year-old last summer, with the hope of extending his contract beyond 2024, which has not happened so far.
Therefore, the Serie A side could open the door for his ‘immediate’ sale in January, and Tottenham have come forward to sign him.
The Italy international’s agent is already at work to find offers that can materialise in the next few days. It’s explained Spurs chief Fabio Paratici has proposed a loan offer with an obligation to buy if certain set conditions are met.
Roma’s request is €40m and they are not willing to go below €35m to sell Zaniolo in the winter market.
Over at Sportitalia, they state several Premier League sides have lined up for Zaniolo after his employer decided to open the door for his transfer. Antonio Conte’s side are the ‘first candidate’ to sign him.
Roma would consider the attacker’s sale this month if they were to receive a proposal of €25m plus bonuses. The figure quoted here is different to one mentioned by Gianluca Di Marzio.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can find an agreement with Roma to sign the player in the January window.
