Now that Tottenham have sorted out their managerial issue by finally finding the replacement for Antonio Conte in Ange Postecoglou, Daniel Levy has to find the successor to Fabio Paratici.
A director of football is still needed at Spurs, and the Premier League side are looking around, with a few names being mentioned.
The latest, courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, is Monchi, who is currently at Sevilla, who have just won the Europa League.
While that should be reason to celebrate, it’s stated the Spaniard has ‘shown signs of exhaustion in a very difficult season’.
That’s why he has asked those above for a ‘period of reflection to decide on his future’, as he could be considering jumping ship.
The decision to sell the likes of Jules Koundé and Diego Carlos in the same transfer window still hasn’t gone down well, and the chief ‘feels that he does not have full power in financial matters at the club’.
For this reason, he ‘plans to take a break or start another project that appeals to him’, which is where Tottenham reportedly come in.
They state that ‘the first possible destinations’ for the transfer guru are coming from the Premier League, and with a need for a man of his type at Spurs, they are a logical choice.
It’s also worth remembering that Monchi has ‘excellent relations’ with the men in charge at Tottenham, having previously dealt with them for the likes of Sergio Reguilón, Bryan Gil (twice) and Erik Lamela over the years.
Something to keep an eye on.
