The deal taking Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur to Brighton and Hove Albions is now being finalised.

Journalist Gianluigi Longari reports that the centre-back is set to undergo medical tests in the USA before closing a £55m deal.

Brighton deal close

Reports have linked the Croatian centre-back with a move this summer after an impressive loan deal at HSV Hamburg last season.

He was one of the breakout stars of the Bundesliga, establishing himself in HSV’s team despite being just 19 years old. The German team were keen to keep him, but it soon became apparent that would not be on the cards.

The original belief was that he would return to Tottenham, who were keen to assess him and whether he could be a part of Roberto de Zerbi’s squad moving forwards.

But that now appears to have changed following the arrivals of Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi. Their arrivals, plus the continued presence of Cuti Romero and Micky van de Ven, have left Vuskovic looking unlikely to feature this season.

Tottenham accept exit

That is something Brighton have seemingly taken advantage of. They’ve been exploring a deal for the youngster for weeks. The first proposal came as part of the negotiations for Van Hecke.

Now Longari reports that a deal is close to being concluded. According to his information, a deal worth £55m is now close to being completed between Tottenham and Brighton.

Indeed, a deal is progressing so well that the Croatian defender is set to undergo medicals in the USA. He’s currently there at the World Cup with Croatia.

The question is whether the deal is a flat £55m or includes bonuses. It would also be surprising if Tottenham do not remain a future option on the youngster. He is highly rated after his time in Germany, with big European sides also keen. For now, they appear happy to let him go either way.
