Levante’s move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon is ‘already quite advanced’ as the Spanish side scramble to sign a centre-back before Monday’s deadline.
That’s according to Levante EMV, who say say the Spurs man ‘could join’ the La Liga club as they look to put an end to their efforts to reinforce the position.
We covered a report yesterday that stated the Welshman was a target for Levante as they need to reinforce their defence and have promised their manager to do so.
They are targeting Rodon as he can add height and help ‘alleviate the deficit of centimetres’ Levante have at the back.
His youth is also a bonus, while there is a belief he has ‘character’ to lead his teammates in defence, another plus point in his favour.
The Spanish side feel he ‘stands out’ for his ability to read the game and cut out passes, although he does suffer with the ball at this feet.
That’s something that’s cost him a regular place under Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, who praised ‘his commitment and desire to learn’ in public.
The praise for the Tottenham defender has resonated with Levante, who are now pushing for his signature before the transfer window closes.
They’ve made signing a defender ‘the priority’ for Monday’s deadline, and it appears Rodon is the one they have settled on.
