Last month, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou stated goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will be out for months with an ankle injury.

The Italian underwent surgery, and the Spurs manager has started Fraser Forster in his absence.

Tottenham could look for a new stopper in the winter market and Botafogo’s John Victor Maciel Furtado, simply known as John, could be an option for them.

That’s according to UOL, who state the north London club are interested to sign the 28-year-old.

Spurs have recently entered the fight for the Brazilian and have already made contacts to ask about his asking price. Galatasaray and Bahia have also shown interest, but the two clubs seem to be behind Tottenham.

John’s asking price makes the deal difficult for Bahia while he’s not in favour of moving to Turkey. It’s claimed Postecoglou’s side could move forward with this operation, probably in the next window.

His contract lasts until 2027, but the report states the player has an ‘uncertain future’ at the Brazilian club. UOL add Botafogo are expected to receive offers in the ‘coming weeks’.

Tottenham, who have made contact, are expected to consider a move for John and could make an offer in January.
