With half of the top six reportedly after Philippe Coutinho, the player seems to have some options in front of him if clubs can reach an agreement with Barcelona.

Tottenham are believed to be one of them, and it’s a line that’s being pushed by local Catalan outlet RAC1.

They stated on Tuesday that ‘Tottenham are an option’ for the Brazilian, especially with Mauricio Pochettino wanting an attacking minded midfielder for his team.

On Wednesday, the same outlet explain the two clubs ‘continue to negotiate’ the player’s loan to Spurs, and are doing so ‘against the clock’, with the Premier League transfer window shutting on Thursday at 5pm.

They state ‘that although progress has been made’, sources close to the operation emphasise a deal remains ‘very difficult’ to pull off.

If a deal is done, they warn it could be ‘at the last moment’.

The Brazilian made 54 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions last year, scoring 11 goals and assisting teammates five times.
