Tottenham Hotspur continue to be named as one of the main candidates to sign Stefan De Vrij from Inter Milan.
The news now arrives from Sport Mediaset (via FC Inter News), who claims the Nerazzurri made a new attempt to renew the defender’s contract and avoid him from walking for free at the end of the season.
Inter Mian’s offer was for a two-year contract, where De Vrij would be paid €4m per season, and they are now ‘waiting’ for the player’s answer.
It’s then highlighted that the defender remains ‘courted’ by Tottenham and Feyenoord, who could either try to buy him now or sign him for free at the end of the contract.
Dr Vrij is still a regular starter at Inter Milan, and the only reason for him to leave the club now would be the search for a new challenge in his career.
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte previously worked with the defender at Inter Milan, and could definitely be a key factor in convincing him of rejecting the contract offer and try an adventure in the Premier League under a manager he knows well in the country’s capital city.
