Journalist Ciro Venerato has told Rai’s La Domenica Sportiva, relayed by Area Napoli, that Tottenham Hotspur like Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti.
The north London club have been looking for a new manager since parting ways with Antonio Conte in March.
Tottenham have identified a few candidates and the 64-year-old is included in their target list.
Venerato explains Spurs are ‘concretely interested’ in the Italian, who has helped Napoli secure the title this seaosn. It was the Naples club’s third league title and first since 1990.
Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has exercised the option to extend the coach’s deal until 2024. Despite this, his future at the club remains uncertain since Tottenham, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are all keen to take Spalletti.
Napoli have identified Fiorentina’s Vincenzo Italiano and Sassuolo manager Alessio Dionisi as potential candidates, if Spalletti decides to leave after this season.
Spurs are not only looking for a manager but also for a new sporting director after Fabio Paratici stepped down from his position in north London last month.
According to Ciro Venerato, relayed by Tutto Juve, Napoli chief Cristiano Giuntoli is on the Premier League club’s radar.
“Cristiano Giuntoli’s Napoli experience has perhaps come to an end. Juventus are mainly involved, but in recent weeks he has also had contacts with Manchester United, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain,” Venerato said.
“The Empoli sporting director, [Pietro] Accardi, is on pole to replace him and restart with a new cycle.”
