Atlético Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco would now consider any offer from Tottenham Hotspur, should they wish to revive their previous interest in him.
That’s according to Marca who say the Belgian star could join the list of players to leave the Wanda Metropolitano next month if the offer is right.
They explain that following an ‘irregular’ season, Carrasco has lost his place as one of the undisputed starters under Diego Simeone.
That, coupled with Belgium’s poor performance at the World Cup, has led Atlético to consider their options as the forward’s current deal expires in 2024.
That means the next two windows will be their last opportunities to ‘cash in on him’ and their ‘intention’ is to explore that possibility next month.
Their hope is that some of Carrasco’s previous suitors may show an interest again and of those is Tottenham.
They were exploring the possibility of a deal in the last market, with AS stating that they ‘approached the player’s entourage’ to update him on their ‘interest in acquiring his services’.
A move never materialised as Carrasco ‘said no’ to the proposals put in front of him but the ‘scenario has changed’ and now any answer would be ‘more in the affirmative’.
He doesn’t like his current situation at Atlético, particularly as contract negotiations with the club have not gone well. He also knows that at 30-years-old next year he is ‘facing the last big contract’ of his career.
Thus, he is more receptive to the idea of moving away from the Wanda Metropolitano than he once was and were Tottenham to show an interest again, he would be happy to listen to and consider their proposal.
