Tottenham Hotspur‘s Mohammed Kudus has decided not to represent Ghana in this international break in order to regaining his form.

The Premier League side signed the attacking midfielder from West Ham United in July 2025.

He finished his debut season with Tottenham with three goals and six assists from 1,921 minutes from 29 matches. Kudus suffered a hamstring injury in January and was out of action for the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old recovered during the summer and has already featured for Spurs this season. He played 198 minutes from five matches and is yet to start in the league under Roberto De Zerbi.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Mohammed Kudus won’t represent Ghana for the 2 AFCON qualifiers

Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz has included Mohammed Kudus in his squad for the ongoing international break.

However, the former Ajax man has opted out for the AFCON qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Gambia. 3 News make it clear it’s their own updates about his withdrawal.

The versatile attacker has already informed the national team coach about his decision.

Kudus took this step to focus on ‘completing his recovery at Tottenham Hotspur’ and regaining his ‘best physical condition and form’ before representing his country again.

Decision beneficial for Tottenham

His last appearance for Ghana was against Comoros in October 2025, meaning the player missed a year’s action with the national team.

Mohammed Kudus’ Tottenham Hotspur teammate, Dejan Kulusevski, hasn’t featured for Spurs and Sweden since May 2025.

Sweden manager Graham Potter recently confirmed Kulusevski is close to returning from the long-term injury.

This, coupled with Kudus’ decision to not represent Ghana in the upcoming matches can benefit the north London club. The attacking duo can utilise the international break to work on their recovery to regain their best physical condition.

Spurs have endured a difficult start to the season and are bottom of the table. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have failed to secure a win and scored their first league goals of the season in their 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend.
