Tottenham Hotspur appear to have sat back, watched developments around Emerson Royal, hear about him agreeing personal terms with AC Milan, notice the outright cockiness in the Italian media over the deal, and even listen to the player talking up a move… only to then pull the rug from underneath the Rossoneri.
Someone, potentially the player’s agent, appears to have informed AC Milan earlier this year that a deal for Emerson would be easy to do and Tottenham would drop their asking price.
At one point it was even claimed Spurs had come down to €20m, with the Serie A side waiting for them to get closer to €15m. However, Monday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport says Spurs haven’t budged.
They’re still at €25m and not prepared to bring that amount down. For Milan, Tottenham are ‘asking too much’ so they’re looking at other options.
One of those is Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Gazzetta dello Sport say if the Red Devils bring in a replacement then Wan-Bissaka ‘will be available for a modest fee’.
Perhaps they should actually test that theory with Manchester United to avoid getting themselves in another Emerson Royal situation.
