Tottenham have asked Barcelona to name a price for midfielder Franck Kessié, who is set to leave the Camp Nou this summer.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Catalans have set a minimum price of €25m on the midfielder as they try to raise funds to comply with Financial Fair Play.
The newspaper reports that Kessié is one of the players chosen to leave Barcelona this summer, with the decision already made and the footballer set to be notified once they’ve secured the league title.
They are happy with what they’ve seen from him this season and they’d be happy to keep him but there is a pressing need to bring money into the club.
Thus, their objective is to ‘close a direct sale’ and Tottenham have asked them to name their price in the last few days.
The midfielder had been a possible departure in January, but Barcelona ultimately rejected that idea as they could not secure a substitute.
The situation has now changed at they will make him a priority departure at the end of the season, with the intention to earn as much money as possible from a sale.
Tottenham are long-term suitors after showing interest in January, only for that to be blocked by the La Liga leaders. Now they need money and any offer of more than €25m would be welcomed as Kessié arrived free.
The player’s own desires will count, and he is attracted to Inter Milan, who are also showing an interest but are unlikely to be able offer a deal that would suit Barcelona.
Thus, Tottenham could have the upper hand and they’ve been in contact in the last few days in an attempt to get the process started.
