Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal sent scouts to the game between Hoffenheim and Schalke, according to claims in the German media. It’s been reported the purpose of their trip to Germany on Sunday was to watch Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule, who has been impressing for the Bundesliga side.

Bild have confirmed the two Premier League side attended the German league clash at the weekend, and were joined by Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Inter Milan and Everton.

Despite extending his contract to 2019 in the summer this hasn’t deterred clubs like Tottenham and Arsenal getting a lowdown on Sule following Chelsea’s attempts to sign him in the last transfer window.

The West London side tried to sign the player before last month’s deadline, but his club weren’t interested in the €30m Chelsea were prepared to offer.

Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are also showing an interest, but it’s been claimed Sule has a dream to play in the Premier League, preferably for a Champions League club.

Arsenal and Tottenham are both Champions League clubs right now, which gives them an advantage, but perhaps both would be wary given Chelsea’s rejected €30m offer.
