Tottenham have been linked with a move for Atalanta’s Ben Godfrey in the past few days.

It was reported that the London giants have come forward for the defender and now more information has emerged about Godfrey, who is struggling to adapt at Atalanta under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Quotidiano Sportivo have looked at the defender’s situation in detail and state that his time in Bergamo now seems to be over, especially given Giorgio Scalvini is back in action after a long-term knee injury.

Tottenham are currently the most concrete option for the Englishman and a deal could be done on a six-month loan deal with the option to buy in the summer, if certain conditions are met.

Spurs are ‘appearing to be ahead’ in the chase for the 26-year-old and there is also interest from Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanders. Contacts between the English sides and Atalanta have been ongoing since December, with the Italian club keen on the player’s exit.

The outlet is confident that Godfrey will return to the Premier League soon and Tottenham’s injury crisis could lead to them making a move.
