Tottenham and West Ham United ‘are after’ Juventus defender Federico Gatti as the Italians eye a sale to fund summer transfers for themselves.
That’s according to TV Play, who report that the Premier League duo both want the defender, who could be available for €20m.
They explain that the defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League this week has fuelled tensions at Juventus.
There could be a revolution of the squad in the summer and despite being a regular this season, Gatti could be one of those moved on.
That’s because Juventus see other players in the squad as the ones, they want to move forwards with and would like to sign David Hancko from Feyenoord as well.
To do this they could ‘cash in’ on Gatti and would accept a deal worth around €20m. Tottenham and West ham ‘are after’ the defender and there may be a deal there to be done.
Now TV Play report that Gatti wouldn’t be closed to a move to the Premier League and an experience elsewhere but seem to ignore the fact that he rejected a move to Nottingham Forest in January.
The reports around that failed move stated that he absolutely wanted to stay with Juventus and even sign a new contract there.
That is contrary to what TV Play are saying here and could suggest that Tottenham and West Ham will need to do more convincing that initially suggested. They, though, are in the mix and Juventus are open to selling too.
