For the second day in a row, the Spanish media are giving their slant on claims from England of Tottenham interest in Ivan Rakitic.

With a year left on his contract, the Croatian could finally leave Barcelona this summer, and do so for less than he would have done in prior windows.

Sport state Tottenham’s interest isn’t anything new, and they’ve previously ‘tried’ for the midfielder’s signing. At that time, and it’s not made clear when it was, Barcelona were asking too high a price for their player.

Now, given his contract situation, the Catalan club would have to drastically lower their asking price. There’s the chance they could lose Rakitic for free after the coming season, and they will clearly want to avoid such a scenario.

As always with Rakitic, the desire to return to Sevilla is explained, and that’s where the big problem could come for Jose Mourinho.

Should the player’s former club make a move then he’s considered likely to choose that option, even if the wages wouldn’t be as high as what Tottenham and others may offer.
