Tottenham Hotspur are ‘interested in signing’ Borussia Monchengladbach Marcus Thuram, as the German side eye up a potential sale in January.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the player today and how his call up to France’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar now means he is ‘worth his weight in gold’.
They explain that when the 25-year-old was called up to Didier Deschamps’ squad on Sunday the player’s joy was ‘enormous’ and the club was ‘not at all sad’ about the decision either.
According to BILD’s information, top clubs are ‘already interested in signing’ the forward in the January transfer window and Tottenham are one of them.
His participation at the World Cup is certain to attract the attention of other clubs and a possible transfer fee could ‘skyrocket’ by several million.
Thuram’s contract is set to expire next summer, though, and Monchengladbach cannot afford to let that happen given he is currently valued at around €30m.
Thus, they are open to a deal if the likes of Tottenham come calling, having done the same with Denis Zakaria last season when he was in a similar situation and sold to Juventus for €8m.
There would certainly be ‘more money’ in any deal for Thuram, with a double-digit million sum thought to be ‘realistic’, particularly if he can impress at the World Cup.
