Denis Zakaria has been featuring regularly for Borussia Monchengladbach since he joined them from Young Boys in 2017.

The Switzerland international caught the attention of Borussia Dortmund in 2018 and they were then willing to pay €22m to acquire his services, but Monchengladbach turned it down.

Bild now claims Dortmund are still looking at the 22-year-old, along with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

It’s claimed Spurs, along with the aforementioned clubs have ‘already expressed interest’ in the midfielder, whose contract with the Bundesliga side runs until 2022.

Bild states Monchengladbach are dreaming of collecting a record fee from the player’s sale. The club’s current record is €45m, which they received from Arsenal when the Gunners signed Granit Xhaka in 2016.

The German publication states Monchengladbach sports director Max Eberl hopes to collect €50m for Zakaria’s transfer next summer.

“We are extremely satisfied with Denis’ development and plan with him in the long term. Gladbach is and remains a club that relies on transfer fees. Of course, when we receive unrealistic offers, we have to deal with them,” Eberl said.

It remains to be seen whether or not Tottenham will meet the Bundesliga side’s asking price for Zakaria.
