Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Sporting winger Pedro Gonçalves suddenly became a big thing in Portugal.
Besides reports from newspapers O Jogo and Record this week, we now also get to see A Bola speaking about this chase.
The outlet today takes recent claims from England about this pursuit and says they’ve confirmed with their own sources that the 24-year-old is a target for Tottenham.
According to A Bola, Spurs had already spoken about Pedro Gonçalves, also known as Pote, when they were discussing the transfer of Pedro Porro in January.
Now with the player doing great against Arsenal in the Europa League, especially with the great goal he scored in London, that ‘accelerated’ Tottenham’s pursuit of him.
The report doesn’t say how much Pote is going to cost, as they only mention that he’s protected by a release clause worth €80m, with a contract until 2026. It’s worth recalling that 50% of the fee would go directly to his former club Famalicão.
This is the third Portuguese newspaper talking about Tottenham’s interest in the player, so it shall be no surprise if Spurs spend a big chunk of money on the winger this summer.
