It’s quite impressive how most Portuguese newspapers today have stories about Tottenham Hotspur’s chase for Sporting fullback Pedro Porro.

Even though most articles are still covering this week’s news from Spain which said Spurs are eyeing the player, we actually get some interesting updates, especially from outlet O Jogo.

The newspaper features a piece claiming Tottenham now ‘accelerate talks’ for Porro, with their approach having already reached Sporting.

It’s claimed that Antonio Conte wants a more attacking fullback for Spurs’ squad, and given the manager’s current contract situation, where he is negotiating to sign an extension, that’s extra pressure from his end to make the club get him what he wants.

It’s recalled that Tottenham got impressed with what they saw from Porro against them in the Champions League, with the club also going after more information on him by contacting scouts from his former club Manchester City.

According to O Jogo, Sporting will demand at least €35m for the sale.

The big reason not to make a discount is that they still must pay 30% of their profit to the Citizens, and in case of a deal worth that amount, €10.5m would be going to Pep Guardiola’s side.
