AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen has been strongly linked with a move Tottenham.
A week or so ago, Dutch media reported Janssen had already visited White Hart Lane to hold discussions with Tottenham, and hear their future plans.
Earlier reports also suggested AZ want €15m for Janssen, but it now appears the Eredivisie side could demand much more for their star player.
On Friday, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Tottenham already had three bids rejected for the 21-year-old.
The first couple of bids of €10m plus €2.5m in bonuses and €12.5m plus €2.5m in bonuses was immediately rejected by AZ’s technical director, Max Huiberts.
Last night, Tottenham made another bid of €14m to be paid over three years, but that again wasn’t enough to tempt AZ. Daniel Levy will surely now have the bit between his teeth and be determined to get a deal done.
The Eredivisie side want a record transfer fee for Janssen, and that means Tottenham should pay at least €20m.
Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are also interested in the Dutch international, but they also have had a bid rejected from AZ.
Tottenham have already agreed to pay Janssen wages worth €3m a year, but should strike a deal with AZ quickly.
Janssen signed for AZ at the start of the season in a deal worth €400,000, and has 32 goals and 7 assists to his name this season.
