Chelsea could end up tearing up Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s contract in the summer after his trip to Barcelona.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain that Inter Milan are eyeing the Gabonese striker ahead of him possibly being available on a free transfer.
The newspaper explains that Inter are keeping a ‘watchful eye’ on the situation around Aubameyang as they look to improve their team for next season.
They know that Aubameyang and Chelsea have been ‘torn apart’ over the last few months, with his trip to Barcelona to celebrate in their dressing room just the latest in a series of splits.
Thus the termination of his contract seems possible and that would open up ‘interesting scenarios’ for Inter.
The Italian side see him as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who could be sent back to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season if he cannot show significant improvement on what has been a poor loan spell back at the club.
Their belief is that they would represent a ‘welcome destination’ for Aubameyang, where the Decreto Crescita tax breaks would allow them to offer a good wage packet to tempt him.
They do have doubts about the Chelsea man, particularly when it comes to his character, but know that if he is coached well the Aubameyang can be a ‘certainty in the goal area’.
It all depends on what Chelsea decide to do with him in the summer but at the moment it appears the two parties are moving towards a termination and Inter are thinking of taking advantage of it.
